Beloved Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.

Stateside actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA on Monday having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a statement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive TV Career

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He subsequently landed a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on several popular shows, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared on social media.

Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
