The Gunners Face Wolverhampton Wanderers in Pivotal Premier League Fixture

Focus shifts for a compelling Premier League matchup as league leaders Arsenal entertain rock-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Emirates Stadium.

Starting Lineups

Arsenal have opted for a trio of alterations from the side that suffered a narrow defeat at Villa Park in their previous outing. William Saliba, the Swedish striker and the Brazilian winger all come into the lineup. Martin Ødegaard and the Spanish midfielder are named on the substitutes' bench, while Riccardo Calafiori is not involved. Saliba is back after missing a run of games through injury.

The visitors also have made three changes to their starting XI following being soundly beaten 4-1 at Molineux by United on Monday evening. Matt Doherty, the Brazilian midfielder and the South Korean forward start. Ki-Jana Hoever and Jhon Arias drop to the bench, while Bellegarde is omitted altogether.

The Setup

Good evening! And I mean, c’mon …

The table reveals a clear contrast. Arsenal sit comfortably at the summit of the table, while Wolves anchor the division.

… however, even though this will be the 42nd time the Premier League leaders have taken on the team propping up the entire table – winning 30 out of 41, with seven tied games – who are responsible for two of the four historical shocks? Why, Wolves, of course! Therefore, although Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be expecting another victory, Rob Edwards must know that underdogs sometimes find the target, and anything is possible. Kick-off is at 8pm GMT. The action is imminent!

(The other two last-over-first wins in the Premier League era are Oldham’s 1-0 win over Manchester United in March 1993, and Tottenham Hotspur – admittedly, this one sounds a bit weird - beating Liverpool in November 2008.)
