The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating action and insanity with similar glee, all while telling captivating, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two visionaries whose work have represented all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' format by featuring a fresh location and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their constant belief and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Each game is a interpretation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always examining the nature of humanity through this intricate and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, visionary style to the audience.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
