Trump Welcomes Relatives of Attacked Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Devastating Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to support policing efforts in Washington DC.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the individual that educators wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Government Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The incident prompted the government to halt asylum applications and halt providing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, per the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
